Upping Your Digital Communications Game

For candidates and electeds, compelling messaging and a strong social media presence have never been more critical for success. Citizens depend increasingly on digital communications for timely and accurate information about breaking news and programs/services that will improve their daily lives. Add in the global pandemic and the culture of misinformation we are living through; these have made fact-based, well-crafted digital communications by public officials a bedrock for the flourishing of truth and democracy, no less!

If you have been putting off jumping into the digital arena, now is the time. Please join us for this 2-hour introductory session to some of the social media and digital communications platforms and strategies needed for your toolbox. (Hint: you don’t need to employ them all; pick the ones that work for you.)

Just to be super-clear, this session is more about how to frame effective communications across unique platforms than about how to use each application from a technical standpoint. Bring your curiosity and questions to this interactive session with lots of strong examples and room for Q&A.

We will plan to cover:

  • Compelling messaging for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • How to multi-purpose content across diverse digital platforms
  • Two ways to structure op-eds for impact
  • Incorporating your personal story into communications
  • The importance of images and visuals (and Canva!) in digital comms

Please join us in November for three great professional development opportunities for elected alumnae. This is Session 1 of 3. You can attend any one or all sessions of your choosing.
